Education
The London Association of Funeral Directors actively supports the education of members’ staff. Oversight of education activity rests with the Education Sub-committee. The Association’s Charitable Fund may be used to facilitate a wide range of educational objectives.
Activities and initiatives include –
The popular Certificate in Funeral Arranging and Administration (Cert FAA) course.
Holding periodic evening seminars on topical issues.
Awarding the Harold Rivett Award to the student, employed within the Association’s region, who attains the highest marks (gaining a distinction) in each exam of the National Diploma in Funeral Directing (DipFD).

Certificate in Funeral Arranging and Administration
Since its inception in 2007, over 400 successful candidates have gained this qualification, aimed at equipping frontline staff with the knowledge and skills essential to assist the bereaved with all aspects of arranging a funeral.
The course is overseen by David Hall DipFD, an NAFD Approved Tutor with many years of funeral service experience, and Dr Brian Parsons, training consultant, researcher and acclaimed author of several books on the funeral industry and funeral practices, including The London Way of Death and The Evolution of the British Funeral Industry (www.brianparsons.org.uk)
